OUR
FOCUS

POLITICAL LAB
The Political Lab is a non-profit program started by Councilor Mejia with the goal of training prospective candidates of color looking to run for office. The Political Lab uplifted and trained local candidates of color, teaching them to use their collective voice and providing them with resources for how to be successful in their campaigns.
This program had 20 hours of programming, bootcamp style, covering the end-to-end journey of a political campaign of Black and Brown candidates. With 15+ speakers, facilitators, panelists and 20+ participants in the inaugural cohort this program allowed for high levels of networking and community buildings. 4 alum have gone on to win their campaign!

YEARLY PROGRAMMING
The Office of Julia Mejia hosts events yearly to promote resilient communities, and social cohesions. In 2024, through a range of events the community was brought together during Holiday Joy Dinners, Resource Fairs, Immigrant Micro-Business Mixer, Multicultural Fairs, and an Elder Luncheon. These programs allow us a platform to connect with constituents and better our ability to advocate for them and their loved ones. We even crossed borders to build our toolboxes through trips like the "Lanzante" Conference in Atlanta and Dominicans on the Hill in Washington D.C.
